FRAME: The frame is carefully constructed from kiln-dried hardwood, this process of kiln drying removes all moisture from the wood, enabling it to retain its shape and stability to create a frame that lasts. The frame joints get special attention, they are glued, dowelled, and screwed, corners and seat rails are further strengthened by the addition of reinforcing blocks for increased support and strength. Your hand-crafted furniture frame comes with a full ten-year structural guarantee.

ORBIS FOAM USED IN LOLA: Protecting the environment. Orbis™ is a new revolutionary collection of sustainable PU foams made from polyols sourced from recycled post-consumer foam mattresses. Orbis™ foam is a flexible polyurethane (PU) foam made with recycled raw materials. Our aim is to embed a sustainable option into Lola with science, technology, and our deep product understanding allowing us to innovate and redefine living spaces continuously.

SEAT: The fixed seating base is manufactured using elasticated webbing interwoven in both directions, the seats comfort comes directly from the very generous depth of Orbis™ foam, which has an additional softer top layer of Orbis™ foam to create the domed shape and provide further comfort, finally this is covered with a layer of 4oz Dacron directly under the fabric.

UPHOLSTERED BACK REST & ARMS: The back and arms are created using a base of Orbis™ foam that is domed and with a Dacron wrap resulting in a unique upholstered shape to show our commitment to quality.

FABRIC ADVICE: In creating your own unique pieces you can either select one of ten designers recommended options or choose from a wider selection of over 90 premium and luxury fabrics. If children, heavy usage, or pets are a consideration, we recommend selecting one of our stain guard options. To help you make the perfect choice we will send up to 6 fabric samples to your door free of charge.

SCATTER CUSHIONS (one back cushion is included with each section, excluding footstool, additional scatters sold separately) : Available in a range of sizes.

Collection Story

Our new sustainable 2024 modular sofa collection Lola by Russell Gillott - where innovation meets sustainability. This truly versatile contemporary modular sofa collection is ideal for those who really want to customise their living spaces. The Lola collection can be configured infinitely using 22 different modules, consisting of different depths, widths, arms, and coffee table configurations. The layout possibilities are endless. Developed in collaboration with British companies this new collection uses cushion fillers that are made from recycled post-consumer foam mattresses and is offered with fabrics made from 100% PET recycled polyester yarns, produced from waste plastic bottles.

British Design Shop is proud to be a company member of the marine conservation society, a UK charity fighting for a cleaner, better-protected, healthier ocean: one we can all enjoy.

As part of this initiative, we are partnering like minded experts who can help us to understand more about what we can do to help. After analysis of our products, we have pledged not to use PFAS chemicals in our products and will also give £100 to the marine conservation society for every Lola collection order.
